I'm happily married to Mr. Man. We have 2 daughters, Big R and Little R. I'm a stay at home mom. We moved from the big city to the country, living a dream. I'm a collector and a packrat. I'd rather read a book than watch a movie. I battle depression. I love life, but that wasn't always the case. This is my journal.

Why I Prefer To Watch SoapNet

Lets see, not much has happened today. It was of course another snow day from school. Though it didn't snow at all, the roads are very icy. The temperature dropped to -22, that's -33 with the windchill. Brrrrrrr. Of course the car wouldn't start. So Hubby missed his physio appointment. However this prompted us to call S.W since she was in town, and asked her to pick up one of those portable booster thingys, which happened to be on sale for half price even, yay. It works great and now Hubby has gone to town to get supplies.
I can't get that North Korea crap out of my mind. The show I saw was Explorer. The film crew was actually there with an eye doctor who was on a humanitarian mission. He operated on 1000 people in 10 days! He had to bring his own equipment, as what was there was substandard. They did have some modern stuff which had been donated by other countries, but the doctors there don't even know how to use it!
Not sure how much information is available on that place, since the leader keeps everything pretty much under wraps. It's like a black hole of a country.
The leader, Kim Jong il, has everyone brainswashed, they worship him, they have his picture on the walls in their homes, rather than family pictures or art. The streets are empty, they showed a highway, several lanes, and NO TRAFFIC. It was eerie. The people are malnourished and starving. There is no internet, cell phones are banned and television is completely censored. They also have concentration camps, for those who disobey I guess, good Lord.
It was so sad. Unbelievable really.
And that is why I prefer to spend my TV time watching SoapNet. It's unbelievable in a good and funny sort of way. I suppose I am one of those "sensitive viewers" they mention in warnings. I cannot not be affected when I see such atrocities.
I don't know when it was filmed, I know it was done on the sly, they are very anti-American there and I'm pretty sure it was never before seen footage. I would highly recommend anyone to watch this if it's ever on again. I forget the exact title, but it was on the National Geographic Channel, the show was Explorer and it was about North Korea. You won't believe your eyes. Some of it was so sad yet silly, it was comical, like a park bench, under glass, because the previous leader had sat on it. The previous leader was the father of the current leader. And the border with South Korea, you wouldn't believe it, that's all I can say.
It is my hope that other countries, like the States, do stick their noses in, step up and do something to free those people. Though those people probably wouldn't even know what to do with freedom. Well, I'm off to cook dinner. Have a lovely evening. Stay warm.
