I'm happily married to Mr. Man. We have 2 daughters, Big R and Little R. I'm a stay at home mom. We moved from the big city to the country, living a dream. I'm a collector and a packrat. I'd rather read a book than watch a movie. I battle depression. I love life, but that wasn't always the case. This is my journal.

Upstairs, Downstairs

Good morning.
I took these pictures this morning. The first is the upstairs fake tree, and the next is the real one downstairs.
I thought I've talked about them enough, I should post pics. Its hard to get a shot that shows the details. I really should read the instruction book for my camera lol.
We actually broke down and moved the dart board! It was on the green board behind the tree, which was perfect, but we rearranged things so we could put the tree there, and still be able to play darts. Yes we plan to move the scoreboard too, just haven't got to that yet.
That is my new painting in the upstairs photo, to the left of the tree. Isn't it gorgeous?
I do believe there are even more homes on our street lit up this year than any previous year since we've been here. Its so pretty, even more so when there's snow. All the snowmobile trail signs have been erected, so, bring on the snow! Oh yeah, we sold our sled...but I will always have the video of Hubby dumping us, pulling out of the driveway, as I'm filming the whole thing! Who knows if we'll get another one down the road or not.
I notice the store is all decorated and cleaned up also. Too bad there wasn't such spirit when I was working there. I wanted to do that kind of thing, but the owner was all against it then. It looks great now, very festive.
Things to do in 2007...paint the familyroom! That paint drives me crazy. I loved it at first, but its bizarre charm has worn off since. The room was very cold looking when we moved in. The walls were a cold, icy, pale, gray/blue colour. Even the fake brick around the fireplace was painted that same colour. It was awful. And there was this horrible carpet on the floor as well.
We wanted to warm it up. Out with the carpet, down with the laminate. Had the fireplace completely re-built using reclaimed bricks and then the paint job. It started out just yellow. It was lacking, it needed to be toned down somehow, so we sponged the terracotta over most of it. It worked at the time. It actually resembled fire and flames in places. The room became very much warmer.
But as I say, it's time for change. I'm thinking like a very light coffee, beigy, creamy colours. Some new furniture, area rugs and lots of pillows and cushions. And definately new window treatments lol, maybe even new windows!
There is so much we want to do with this place. Many of our ideas get squashed because of the propane. The pipe lines, the tank and the exhaust vents are always in the way. Then there's the time and money factors too. Oh well, eventually.
Heres another pic from last night. Yes I am sitting there in my jammies and a rooster apron. I was in the middle of cooking dinner and came down to warm up by the fire and have a smoke break...the dog was sitting upright beside me, its funny when he does that, so I suggested Hubby get a picture of it. As soon as he stood up with the camera, the dog started to lay down and try to crawl up my butt, since he couldn't get onto my lap. If he isn't trying to lay in my lap, he's trying to crawl up my butt or wrapped around my ankles. The dog...not the Hubby. Thats true love...

Have a fabulous day!
