A Long Day
Good evening!
We spent the day in Mount Forest at a 4-H competition. I had invited my sister and father up for it, but called them this morning to cancel. For one thing, Hubby and I both have that terrible cough that Little R had a couple of weeks ago, and would not want my dad to catch it. For another thing, this show was held outdoors and the weather was not very promising. Hubby wanted to ride to the show, but I was able to disuade him ,and I'm glad I did, because we later found there was a problem with the bike, it would not have been fun to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. Little R goes early in the morning with our friends and the trailer full of calves, they need time to get situated and get the calves all cleaned and fluffed. So its a long day for her. I learn and understand more with each show we attend. Having a clue is helping me to be able to be more helpful and supportive. Each fair so far has done things a little differently. There is always a different judge also. Until today, all the shows were held inside an arena. Today they had 3 rings going at once. In the first ring was the dairy calves, in the second ring was the beef calves and in the third ring was horse teams pulling wagons. There was also a parade going around the whole shebang. It was pretty busy lol. Considering the number of kids in her class, Little R didn't do too badly. She didn't win, but she didn't come in last either. Because there were so many kids today, it was very slow and long also. But I enjoyed every minute of it. Again, there were no midway rides either, strange. As always there was plenty of other stuff though.
We didn't end up going to the Trike-In at Belwood at all. The weather just sucked and we found out our friend Mike wasn't there anyways. Little R is happy to be going back to school tomorrow. After 2 weeks off, I think Hubby is a little depressed about going back to work. He was very disappointed this evening when he hopped on the bike and headed out for a scoot only to find something wrong with the bike. One thing wrong was the clamp that holds up the exhaust pipe was wore right through. Thats because it rides so low it scrapes on right turns. But there was something else, technical stuff I don't understand, as well. He really burned for riding on his vacation. I just keep telling him there will still be nice weather before it snows lol.
I took a ton of pictures today. We got some of the wind farm by Shelburne on our way home too. These windmill turbine things are enormous! I got a couple of shots of a newly bloomed red Dahlia as well.
One thing I learned today was the differences in dairy and beef cattle. They look very different. I always thought a cow is a cow right, they're all pretty much the same just different colours, wrong!
Ok, I'm tired, been a long day, big day tomorrow. So here are a few of the pictures I took today....have a good night....
Little R is #46, her friend D.W is #87. The guy in the suit is the judge. Some of these were just to show the size of the rings, the number of kids and cows and the spectators. It was so busy! Today was fun, today is done, tomorrow is another one.
G'night...
