Location: Ontario, Canada

I'm happily married to Mr. Man. We have 2 daughters, Big R and Little R. I'm a stay at home mom. We moved from the big city to the country, living a dream. I'm a collector and a packrat. I'd rather read a book than watch a movie. I battle depression. I love life, but that wasn't always the case. This is my journal.

4 a.m Ponderings

Good morning.
Yup, that's right, it's 4 a.m.
Still lightly snowing, I do still love the snow. Bitter cold too, but, I know it'll still get a lot colder than this, before winter ends.
Little R received snail mail from her sister, Big R, yesterday. I was so curious about it. I must admit, all kinds of irrational thoughts were flying through my head. It's not everyday Big R sends her sister mail. If you knew Big R, you'd know, it could have been just about anything. And I'm not so far off on that thought lol.
As soon as she got home from school I'm like "you have mail". Open it hurry up open it what is it.
Well, what it was, was, a Freaky Socks Exchange letter. Not a chain letter exactly, more like a pyramid scheme involving socks. After sending out a pair of socks to one person, and six copies of the letter to her friends, she should receive 36 pairs of socks, in the mail. It's cute. It sounds like fun.

One of the blogs I read regularly, Dooce, is great. There are a few which I frequent, Uncle Bob, Princess Rachel, PsuedoBoyfriend, Hollywood Farm Girl, The Other Guy, Harraps Take and of course, Dooce. Dooce inspires me. She entertains me. She amuses me. Ocassionally, it's too American or political for me to quite get it, but that doesn't stop me from going back. One thing Dooce does is a monthly newsletter, which is a letter she writes to her almost 3 year old daughter. She talks about what the kid has learned, how she has changed etc. over the last month. I love those entries. It takes me back to when my girls were 3. My only regret is that home computers weren't around when Big R was 3. We were big on the original Nintendo in those days. When Little R was 3, we may have had a computer, but it was a very new thing and I certainly had never heard of blogs yet. I would have loved to do something like that, the monthly update letter to my daughters. If nothing else, I could rest assured that they knew how deeply and intensely I love them both.

So, what do you give a 91 year old man for Christmas? He doesn't have a home to furnish or decorate, he lives with family, in a very small house. He doesn't DO anything. At 91, whats there to do? He has no hobbies to speak of. I'm out of fresh ideas. Don't forget, there's a birthday each year also. I am at a loss. I've given him some pretty off the wall stuff over the years. His room is crammed with photos of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His drawers are full of unopened, unworn clothes. He has everything he needs. Anything he really wants, must have, he goes out and buys for himself. For his last birthday I gave him a pile of DVDs. Last weekend, while out shopping, guess what I picked up for him? A pile of DVDs. I would appreciate any suggestions from more imaginitive minds.
Things to ponder.
But I only have 3 weeks to ponder.

And so, just my thoughts at 4 a.m...
Have a great day.
