Welcome 2007!
Good afternoon.
Welcome 2007!
I'm not sure if we were invited out of pity for us or what, but we were invited nonetheless. The story goes that they thought we had other plans and when they found out we had no plans, they asked us to join them. There were 4 couples, a bar and a pool table. We had a great time. Good music, good people and good munchies. LOTS of alcohol consumption. I do believe I mixed too many different kinds of booze. We were doing shots of this yummy butterscotch liqueur. It was new to me, and delicious stuff. I suck at pool, don't play often enough to get good at it. Not sure how I did it, but I did manage to win at least one game that I remember. I want a pool table now lol. There was one here when we came to look at the house, it was part of the deal. We said no thanks, take the pool table and leave the ride-on lawn mower. We should have kept the pool table! Especially since I now cut the grass with the push mower anyways.
All the kids, 6 of them, were across the street at S.W's place, with two 13 year olds in charge. Once we realized we were going there I thought it would be nice to get a bunch of those funky cool noise makers for all the kids. We dashed off to town to Dollarama. All the way there I was saying I hope it's open and I hope they aren't sold out. We missed it by 10 minutes! They closed an hour early because it was New Years Eve. Grrrrrrrr. I could see the damn things through the window and there were still a couple of employees in the store, but they wouldn't even look at me! So, quite disappointed, we tried another dollar store, nothing, tried Walmart, they had ONE box of new years party crap and I carried it with me all over the store looking for something better, nothing. There was another couple who followed me there from the other dollar store, also looking for the same thing LOL. They followed me all over Walmart, I had the last, the ONLY box of New Years party gear, omg. I ended up back where I started for one last look and decided I didn't want the $20 box of cheesy crap afterall and some other guy snatched it up immediately. That couple had given up on following me around just a little too soon LOL! I grabbed a big bag of piniata filler for the kids instead, candy, gum, little toys and WHISTLES. I'm sure they must have enjoyed that, at least I hope so. GAWD. That happens to me ALL THE TIME. If I see something cool and don't snatch it up right away it's always gone when I go back for it. I wanted to get a bunch of noise makers, but Hubby talked me out of it, as he always does, because he can't see the big picture or think ahead. Even if we didn't use them this time, there is ALWAYS next time!
So the previously posted photos are S.W and her Hubby, his father and girlfriend and another couple who lives around the corner, the hosts, and me and my Hubby of course. They have a lovely house and it inspired me to finally make my Hubby put up our old ceiling fan which has been in a box for 5 years now. He's doing that right now as I type this entry lol. There used to be an apartment in their basement and they renovated the kitchen into a bar.
When we left to head over there, the ground outside was pure ice. I guess the temps rose and it melted by the time we left to head home, thankfully.
I think a good time was had by all.
I stuck to my own little tradition of baking muffins New Years Day morning for our hosts, only it was more like afternoon this year, and I made Hubby and Little R deliver them whilst I nursed my wee hangover lol.
And here's to a wonderful new year!
